The national leadership have sorted out the most important issues eg. the court registration, election the National Board and the address of the national office. Now the system of national coordination in in the process of improvement. Until the system gains its full sufficiency the Bulgarian participation in the Balkan Project will focus on specific programmes and local association. There are three local YMCAs that carry out activities for the communities. They are in Gabrovo , Plovdiv and Dobrich.

GABROVO
This is the first local YMCA in the Balkans, which has managed to erect their own building. This association is known as an very good host of numerous international events. Among them was the Balkan Leadership Training in 2001, one of those events where the Balkan Project was initiated. Above all, however, this YMCA is famous for the activities provided to the community. The most prominent projects are:
The volunteer development programme,
Camping activities,
Young leader training,
Youth exchanges,
Volunteer participation in other countries
On-going support for the children at Gabrovo Children’s Home.
Gabrovo YMCA will celebrate it’s 20th. anniversary in 2011 year which is also the 7th. anniversary of the opening of the new building. They ask for any stories or anecdotes about Gabrovo YMCA to help in the preparation of the celebration.

PLOVDIV
This YMCAs has been building their capacity for years and has experienced all ups and downs typical for local YMCAs built practically from scratch. Now they have firm position in the community can boast of their splendid new premises secured by the extremely generous financial support of Randers Y’s Men’s Club, Denmark- partner of Y’s Men’s Club Plovdiv. This is a very marked contrast to their previous premises. Impressive as the premises are, they would be not enough for the all the activities. This YMCA implements the projects in several other places of the city- the association runs a comprehensive programme which includes:
Orphan programme "Friends" for 10-12 years old.
English classes for Roma children which are free of charge to the participants.
Outdoor programs – Camps and Trekking tours.
Local events and classes which are run in the YMCA.

A new association
DOBRICH
This is a very new YMCA which is establishing under the leadership of Kitty Boncheva. They currently operate in a private apartment, are properly registered and are planning an official opening ceremony.
Individual responsibilities are defined although human resource is not yet a problem. Learning and gaining experience are the prime "wants" for which Plovdiv, Gabrovo and the Partner Group all declared a desire to help. Premises and facilities are clearly needed for the future.
We all wish Dobrich YMCA success and expect them to develop and establish as worthy as Plovdiv and Gabrovo both of which are a credit to the movement.
