As a non-profit organization CnC (Centre for non formal Education of the Young People) exists since 2003. We are the first youth club in the Balkans and the first Youth Centre. Our goal is to empower young people in the community of our city Osijek and the Balkan region through programmes, with the base of non-formal education. Our target group, are youth in age from 13 to 30 years old, but our members are mostly young people between 15 -25 years old. Our experience is that the youth of the community needs and wants to grow and develop, but for that, they need relevant information and a chance to involve themselves in different programs according to their affinities.
Our main activities are:
- Leadership skills & personal development,
- Community family programmes,
- HIV, Alcohol and drug prevention,
- Promotion of civil engagement and volunteer work,
- Art & culture,
- Human rights education,
- International cooperation,
- Campaigning
We have divided our work into local/national and international.
On the local level our base is social inclusion and peer to peer education. For example:
Art & Culture – young people have the opportunity, through peer to peer education, together with the CnC educated staff create different workshops, such as “dream catchers”, “freeze”, poi, drama, etc.
Awareness programmes and campaigning -using the powerful method of peer education, young people are informed about prevention programmes (alcohol, drugs and HIV), the benefit of volunteering and opportunities for different EU programmes and creation of video productions www.cnc.hr
Non-formal education trainings and workshops – on topics such as unemployment, personal development, human rights, leadership skills etc.
On the international level, CnC has been active since 2004 and we have participated in 95 projects (the number is constantly growing). From these 95, we have took more than 1500 young people from Osijek to represent us in some part of the EU or SEE. We have hosted 10 international projects and gave an opportunity to more than 500 people to take part and visit our city and Slavonia region.
