On 15th Dec the YMCA of Montenegro was registered nationally with the Ministry of Internal Affairs as Non-Government Organization.
Now the initiative group is in the process of development the institutional structures, working out the mission statement and the vision of their organization. Simultaneously they are planning the activities to be launched as the first. It seems that the Healthy Life and Social Inclusiveness will be the overall activity areas.
Background
Montenegro is a country in the Western Balkans that gained independence in 2006. In spite of all official attributes of an independent state there are still features typical for the Balkans and former Yugoslavia. The multiethnic and multi-religious structure of the society is the heritage of the whole Balkan history. According to the official statistics Montenegrins 44,98% Serbs 28,73%, Bosnians 8,65% , Albanians 4,91 %, Muslims 3,31 %, Romany 1,01 % Croatians 0,97% or by religion Christian Orthodox 72,07 % Muslims 19,11 % Roman Catholics 3,44 %.
